The Frescobaldi Conservatory of Ferrara offers a national novelty: a II level two-year course in ensemble music for string instruments.
The lessons of the discipline of address (Ensemble music for string instruments) start from the great tradition of the Italian Quartet and the Smetana Quartet, developing learning techniques based on creative self-regulation (see the texts on the following pages of the study plan). Musical improvisation techniques can then be studied in both years within an integrative discipline, which includes collaboration with the jazz department (Musical improvisation techniques). Likewise, the historical performance practice in chamber groups, increasingly relevant in chamber productions, can be experimented. The awareness of the choices of intonation of the strings is deepened in the study of the natural scale and of the different possible temperaments (Tunings and temperaments). The inclusion of the instrument in the study plan is at the student's choice. Seminars, including international ones, are being defined for the extension of specific skills.
